LRSP MINI-PROGRAM ON INTERACTING STOCHASTIC SYSTEMS

March 17 – May 17, 2002

Significant mathematical advances in infinite particle systems, measure-valued processes, stochastic partial differential equations, multiple space-time scale analysis and hierarchical systems have taken place over the past twenty years. The objective of this mini-program is to review the state-of-the-art in these fields, to focus on a number of research problems of current importance and to explore potential applications of these developments to the challenging problems of large interacting systems that arise in biology, communications and economics.

The program is comprised of two major parts. The first, to be held at the Laboratory for Research in Statistics and Probability at Carleton University March 17 – May 17, 2002, involves bringing together a group of senior researchers, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students in this field for collaborative research on problems of current importance. The second is a one week workshop, April 4-10, 2002 to be held at the CRM in Montreal.
